Vienna, June 15, 2024 |  The Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Austria started a cycle of activities for the evaluation of prominent Albanian personalities who live and work in Austria.

 “Acknowledgment for special merits” is the medal that will be awarded to compatriots who, with their professional achievements and engagement in Austrian society, have raised not only their good and respected name, but also that of Albania.

 This initiative of the Ambassador of RS in Austria, Fate Velaj, will take place precisely in the cities where they live and contribute as it aims to increase the sense of national belonging among Albanians and show the locals that these personalities come from a  historical and cultural space that carries the fundamental values ​​of the Europe of yesterday, today and tomorrow.

 We started this assessment model with Dr.  Andi Binaj, head of the Radiology Department and deputy director of the Melk regional hospital.

 In a ceremony held in the town hall of Mautern an der Donau, next to the Albanian and Austrian national flags, was the mayor of the municipality, Henrich Brustbauer, who welcomed the guests and praised the figure of Dr.  Binaj.

 In his speech, Ambassador Velaj said that this initiative was also aimed at turning these Albanian-Austrian personalities into solid bridges of communication of the best cultural values ​​and encouraging trade exchanges between the Albanian and Austrian cities where they live.

 
In this context, he expressed the request for a partnership between the city of Mautern and Përmet based on the many similarities between the two cities.
