2024 marks a significant milestone for NATO. On April 4th, our Alliance celebrates its 75th Anniversary. This year holds special significance for Albania, as it marks 15 years since our country joined the Alliance in 2009.
The past 75 years stand as a testament to NATO’s enduring strength and relevance. Our Alliance has continuously adapted to shifting geopolitical landscapes, showcasing resilience and versatility.
Strengthened further by the recent joining of our newest Allies: Sweden and Finland, NATO today stands as an unwavering guarantor of collective security for all its allies, poised to endure for many more decades.
In the face of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and escalating global security threats, NATO’s importance has never been more pronounced.
For Albania, April 1st, 2009, marks a pivotal moment in our history and an affirmation of our aspirations to forge a modern democratic state.
Joining NATO for us wasn’t merely about seeking security; it was also about cementing our place among the democratic, Western family of nations.
In the years since, we have done outmost to contribute to the Alliance, by playing a significant, pro-active role in guaranteeing the security and stability of our region and by contributing to missions and operations across the globe.
As we commemorate this milestone, I look forward to continuing our contributions to our Alliance with the same steadfast commitment and enthusiasm we’ve shown from day one, in pursuit of peace, security and prosperity.
