
INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Albania to the International Organizations in Vienna has taken over the Chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) for the year 2020. This opportunity marks a great success in the history of Albania’s cross-border diplomacy. OSCE is the world’s largest security-oriented intergovernmental organization, consisting of 57 participating States spread across the area that stretches from Vancouver to Vladivostok. Therefore, the responsibility and privilege attached to this historical task are of high importance.
The Mission is seeking for interns, who are willing to contribute but also gain significant experience, for a period of three-six months (interested candidates should indicate their availability when applying). The internship is designed to provide interested candidates with an opportunity to be directly involved in international relations and multilateral affairs. We consider our interns an integral part of the team. Working alongside Albanian diplomats, the interns will gain first-hand experience in the day-to-day work of a multilateral Mission.
Please take note: Interested candidates should be residents living in Austria! Every nationality is welcome to experience being part of the Albanian 2020 Chairmanship team.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Attend a variety of formal and/or informal meetings and consultations, working groups, seminars and conferences, independently or in support of the Mission’s staff, at the OSCE, to be followed by debriefing/reporting, drafting of notes and reports for the Mission.
- In particular, attend designated activities of the OSCE across all dimensions: politico-military, economic and environmental, human rights, and cross-dimension.
- Provide administrative assistance, if required.
Requirements:
- Applicants should be enrolled on or graduated from a relevant university degree program (international relations, security policy, law, economics, political sciences, or related subjects) and under the age of 35 years old.
- Excellent written and spoken English is essential. Fluency in any other OSCE language (French, German, Italian, Spanish and Russian) is an asset.
- Please note that appropriate dress code and ethical behaviour is very important for the working environment that the Mission provides. Moreover, the ability to adopt easily with multicultural environment is of high importance.
- Further desired qualifications include experience in drafting reports, team spirit and flexibility, and high-level of motivation and dedication.
The internship is unpaid and provides no benefits, compensation, or guarantee of future employment but it provides interns with the opportunity to gain practical work experience in line with their studies or interests, and exposes them to the work of the Mission and International Organizations based in Vienna.
