Adriatic Charter Summit was held with the participation of the U.S. Vice President Mike Pence

Prime Minister Rama, accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Bushati, attended the Special Summit of the Adriatic Charter, which was held in the capital of Montenegro, Podgorica, on 2 August, with the participation of the U.S. Vice President Michael R. Pence and heads of state and government in the region.

The summit was a proper moment for the countries of the region to reiterate once more together with the American party the strategic importance of the Adriatic space and to renew the determination of the Charter's countries to achieve the full Euro-Atlantic integration of the Western Balkans.

In his opening speech at the Summit, Vice President Pence stated that "I have come here today as President Trump's Special Envoy to welcome the progress of the Western Balkans. By bringing the Adriatic closer to the Atlantic, we would be able to ensure a better future not only for the region but for the entire West".

Bilateral meetings with Vice President Pence, as well as with other leaders in the region, reaffirmed the will to move forward all together in defense of the strategic interests of our peoples.

At the meeting with the Croatian Prime Minister Plenkovic, Prime Minister Rama and Minister Bushati conveyed the high sensitivity of the Albanian public opinion to the case of Ballist Morina and stressed the need for a more reasonable resolution of this situation.
