The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Olta Xhaçka, participated in the Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Global Coalition against ISIS (D-ISIS), which was held today in Rome under the co-chairmanship of the US State Department and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Senior representatives of the 73 member countries of the Coalition, in close cooperation with the United Nations and other international organizations and partners, expressed their unwavering commitment to for continuing and increasing humanitarian contributions and financial support in order to strengthen the stability and security in liberated areas and in order to prevent the resurgence of ISIS.
During her speech Minister Xhaçka highlighted the role, the commitment and the pro-active contribution that Albania gives in the framework of strengthening peace and security in the world as well as promoting regional cooperation and development.
“Countering violent extremism is one of our top priorities during our membership in the UN Security Council for the period 2022- 2023” said Minister Xhaçka.
She reaffirmed Albania's support and commitment for rebuilding peace in conflict zones.
The joint statement adopted today calls upon all Coalition partners to be vigilant and work together against any form of threat of terrorism in any region of the world, in full compliance with international law.
