Minister of Foreign Affairs Ditmir Bushati received today the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Pavlo Klimkin, who is paying a working visit to Albania.
Ministers dwelt on bilateral cooperation and further intensification of good relations between the two countries. Parties exchanged views on areas of cooperation, particularly on strengthening trade and tourism exchanges between our countries.
Focusing on developments in Ukraine, Minister Bushati, on behalf of the Albanian government, expressed support for its territorial integrity and sovereignty, based on the commitment of Ukrainian citizens to freedom. Both ministers praised the contribution of the Albanian diaspora living and working in Ukraine as well as its role in further strengthening friendship ties between the countries.
Interlocutors agreed on need to intensify contacts between the two foreign ministries, with special focus on cooperation in the framework of international and regional organizations.
On his part, Minister Klimkin expressed gratitude for Albania's stance on Ukraine, the continued support over its territorial integrity and sovereignty as well as the active contribution that Albania has provided in this regard, as part of a community of values. Commending the good level of relations between the two countries, Minister Klimkin underlined the need to intensify and boost cooperation in other areas of mutual interest such as tourism, education, science, culture and cooperation among universities.
Furthermore, ministers signed an agreement on the abolition of visas for citizens of both countries, which will have a significant impact in facilitating contacts between citizens and also intensify communication among businessmen.
