The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka also the coordinator of the humanitarian operation in aid of Afghan citizens, today inspected the welcoming center and accommodation structures, set up specifically to host an undetermined number of Afghan citizens.
Minister Xhaçka met with leaders of several structures of the Armed Force, State Police and Border Police and closely followed the work done at the center at Rinas Airport, where Afghan citizens will be given first aid, psychological/ social assistance and basic food service or other possible needs.
The center equipped with medical and first aid tents has a capacity of 400 people and will serve as the first stop for the passengers arriving in Albania. Then, after the respective legal modalities they will be accompanied to accommodation facilities in Tirana or Durres, depending on the number of people who will be temporarily sheltered in Albania.
Minister Xhaçka informed that the situation is monitored and followed every minute in cooperation with the allies and that all measures are taken whenever the first plane arrives. The Minister also visited the accommodation structures in Tirana, which are free and equipped spaces with all living conditions for individuals or families. Afghan citizens will stay for a few weeks in these centers, to then move on to the hotels by the sea, waiting to complete the procedures for their transfer to the final destination.
