The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, welcomed at Rinas airport another two planes with 154 Afghan citizens that arrived in Albania.
Via a post on Twitter, Xhaçka stressed that thanks to the generosity of Albanians, Afghan citizens were saved from a terrible fate in their country and were given the opportunity to start a new life.
"154 Afghan citizens arrived in Rinas, men, women, children. People traumatized by the war, each of them, a life saved by a terrible fate in their country which thanks to the generosity of Albanians, will start a new life today. Proud! ", the minister writes in her post.
They were also welcomed by Prime Minister Edi Rama and U.S. Ambassador Yuri Kim.
The newcomers were accommodated in Tirana last night. In total, the number of Afghan citizens arrived in Albania in the last 48 hours is 275.
