Genti Bendo
Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to Brazil
Genti is a career diplomat with over 34 years of experience in the Albanian Foreign Service, with a proven track record of successful bilateral and multilateral negotiations. He has served in a wide range of diplomatic roles, holding various managerial positions both at home and abroad. As the Director of the Department for Economic Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Genti has chaired several bilateral talks. During the Albanian OSCE Chairmanship (2020), he headed the Politico-Military Dimension Unit in the Task Force in Tirana.
Genti Bendo has served in six Albanian diplomatic missions abroad. More specifically, in the early 2000s, Genti served as the Deputy Head of the Albanian Missions in Geneva (UNOG) and Vienna (OSCE & UNOV), where, inter alia, he led multilateral negotiations in his capacity as the chairman of two structures of these organizations. From 2006 to 2010, he held the position of Counselor at the Albanian Embassy in Warsaw. Genti Bendo served as the Chargé d’affaires a.i. and Deputy Head of the Albanian Embassy in Sweden from 2014 to 2018. Between 2023 and 2024, he was the Chargé d’affaires a.i. of the Albanian Embassy in Hungary. As of November 2024, Genti Bendo is the resident Ambassador of Albania to Brazil, serving concurrently as non-resident Ambassador to several South American countries.
Genti obtained his diploma in Economics from the University of Tirana and then his postgraduate diploma in International Relations from the University of Amsterdam. He speaks fluent English and Italian and has very good knowledge of the French language.
