On the 01st of July Multinational Battle Group (BGR) Commander, Col. Mariano R. Scandurra, attended the Transfer of Authority between the third rotation to the fourth one of Albanian Contingent. The ceremony was held in “Novo Selo” base, in front of the representatives of all Units from the Countries belonging to the Battle Group deployed in Bulgaria and the Albanian Military Attachè, Colonel Leonard Çoku.
For the occasion, Col. Scandurra congratulated on the outstanding service performed in support of the Battle Group by Albanian soldiers, who during their six-month tour of duty worked hard to reach and maintain high readiness and interoperability along with other Units.
In this year which marks the 75th anniversary of NATO, Albania is an active and responsible Ally, its participation in several Allied operations and exercises builds up partnerships with other nations.
NATO provides for collective defense against any external threat and this gives us peace of mind and a sense of security for the future.
Multinational BG in Bulgaria is one of the eight Battle Groups established as a component of NATO’s deterrence and defense in the eastern flank of the Alliance territory, following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
