On November 27, 2025, the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Canada, in cooperation with the Consulate General of the Republic of Kosovo in Toronto, opened the photographic exhibition “Jehonë – Echoes of the Past” at the premises of the latter. Organized on the occasion of the 9th anniversary of the declaration of the Month of Albanian Heritage in the province of Ontario, the exhibition aimed to provide a dignified and professional presentation of elements of Albanian cultural heritage.
“Jehonë – Echoes of the Past” was warmly welcomed by guests, representatives of the Albanian-Canadian community, and friends of Albanian culture in the city of Toronto. The exhibition remained open to the public until November 28, 2025. Ambassador Artemis Malo was accompanied at the event by Ms. Elisabeta Frroku, Second Secretary.
In her welcoming speech, Ambassador Malo praised the crucial role of the Albanian-Canadian community in preserving and promoting cultural identity, emphasizing that such cultural initiatives serve as important bridges between the diaspora and the homeland, while simultaneously enriching Canada’s multicultural mosaic.
Following her, Mr. Kadri Dakaj, Consul General of the Republic of Kosovo in Toronto, highlighted the importance of cooperation between Albanian institutions in Canada and the shared value of national cultural heritage.
The exhibition program featured a curated artistic selection, including an instrumental violin performance of the pieces “Baresha” and “Këngës moj” performed by Ms. Klea Cani, a traditional polyphonic collage by the Polyphonic Group of the Albanian Cultural and Heritage Society “Labëria” in Toronto, as well as an artistic performance by the “Fluturimi i Shqipes” Dance Group.
“Jehonë – Echoes of the Past” is an initiative with a special focus on promoting and preserving Albanian cultural heritage, as well as strengthening cultural, institutional, and community ties between Albania and Canada.
