On July 13, 2025, the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania in Cairo, Sami Shiba, was received in a meeting by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population of the Arab Republic of Egypt. Deputy Prime Minister Ghaffar welcomed the Ambassador of Albania, emphasizing the commitment of the Ministry of Health and Population to support and strengthen the joint cooperation in various fields of healthcare, including cooperation and exchange of expertise and provision of technical and technological support, which contributes to the development of the healthcare system and the achievement of health security in both countries.
The meeting also addressed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the areas of training and qualification of medical personnel, pharmaceutical production, vaccine production technology, development of primary health care systems, digital transformation in health care services, implementation of joint programs to combat communicable and non-communicable diseases, and exchange of expertise in the areas of universal health coverage, medical tourism and medical research.
The two sides discussed ways to activate cooperation by setting up a joint working group to follow up on the implementation of the proposed provisions and coordinate efforts to hold training programs, and expressed their commitment to accelerating the procedures for signing a Memorandum of Understanding that would pave the way for an effective and sustainable strategic partnership between the two countries in the health sector.
