History
Relations between France and Albania are old. France was the first Western country to reactivate its diplomatic representation in Tirana in 1945. It also participated in the success of the Italian-led Operation ALBA in the spring of 1997, which restored order and organized the legislative elections of the summer of 1997.
France and Albania signed a treaty of understanding and cooperation in 1994.
