UPR of Qatar
Mr. President,
Albania welcomes the delegation of the State of Qatar and commends them for presenting their 4th national report.
At the national level, we welcome the overall improvement of the legislative framework for the promotion and protection of human rights in the country. In this context, we particularly welcome the Council of Ministers Decision No. (16) of 2023 to establish the National Committee for Women, Children, Elderly and Persons with Disabilities, whose implementation is highly appreciated.
We welcome the launch of the Third National Development Strategy (2024-2030) on the Qatar National Vision 2030 and look forward to its results.
We recognize the progress made on the participation of women in the legislative, judicial, administrative and political spheres, at the national and international levels, although more needs to be done.
We would like to make the following recommendations:
- Continue efforts for greater participation of women in decision-making processes;
- Continue the fight against domestic violence;
- Cooperate with civil society organizations in the follow-up and implementation of the UPR recommendations.
