This Diplomatic Conference hosted by WIPO, is the final stage of negotiations before the adoption of an international legal instrument.

The future instrument aims to:

 

1. enhance the efficacy, transparency and quality of the patent system.
2. prevent patents from being granted erroneously for inventions that are not novel or inventive with regard to genetic resources and traditional knowledge associated with genetic resources.

Albania is represented in the conference by the Director General of GDIP Ms Beqiraj and Ms, Bollano, as well as the Ambassador of Albania in Geneva, Ms. Hysi.

Albania encourages the adoption after 20 years of negotiations of an international legal instrument.
