Mr. President,
Your excellences,
Dear members of the Albanian delegation,
Ladies and gentlemen,
I would like to relay the highest considerations to the Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights and the UPR Secretariat for organizing this reporting session for Albania.
I would like to thank the Troika member states for Albania: Bulgaria, Ghana and Japan.
Please allow me to extend the consideration to all member states or observers in the Human Rights Council who have registered to speak or have submitted their questions in advance.
Special gratitude to all institutions, civil society, media, experts in Albania for contributing to the fulfillment of the recommendations addressed in the 2019 UPR or monitoring their implementation, as well as for their contribution and consulting the report that is reviewed today.
Mr. President,
The Albanian delegation is headed by the Deputy Minister of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Megi Fino who will present Albania’s main achievements in terms of the implementation of the recommendations and address some answers to the questions submitted in advance.
Part of the delegation is also the Deputy Minister of Justice, Mr. Tedi Dobi and representatives of other line ministries, representatives of the Albanian Parliament, the General Prosecutor’s Office, Committee of National Minorities, Institute of Statistics, General Directorate of State Police, General Directorate of Prisons, State Labor Inspectorate.
The representatives of the above institutions will present the main achievements in the field of human rights over the past 5 years, challenges and commitments to promote, enjoy and protect human rights by all and without discrimination.
