The “Group of Friends of Accountability”, of which Albania is also part of, welcomes the initiative to ensure full responsibility, according to international law, for the serious crimes committed in Ukraine.
During the special meeting held in Geneva, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, made the statement on behalf of the “Group of Friends of Accountability for the aggression against Ukraine”, an inter-regional group consisting of 47 states and countries European Union.
Minister Hasani praised the independent investigations which, according to him, clearly show to the world the violations of international law by Russia, including the international law on humanitarianism.
“We appreciate the courageous work of the many Ukrainian organizations that tirelessly continue to monitor and document violations of human rights and international humanitarian law in their country. Their testimonies are essential contributions to accountability efforts. Our nations remain steadfast in their support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, in their tireless struggle for freedom and dignity. Minister Kuleba, we stand by you, side by side, as you walk the path to justice, accountability, and peace”.
The joint statement of the “Group of Friends on Accountability for Aggression against Ukraine” was delivered during the high-level side meeting: 10 years of Russia’s attack on human rights and fundamental freedoms in Ukraine, held during the 55th session of the UN Human Rights Council.
