Pledging Event
Voluntary Technical Assistance Trust Fund to Support the Participation of Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in the Work of the Human Rights Council
Your excellency, High Commissioner Volker Turk,
Your excellency Ambassador Omar Zniber,
Your excellencies,
Ladies and gentlemen,
I’m honoured to address this event, and I would like to thank the organisers for organizing this important event. Thank you to the panellists for sharing their experiences with us today.
Albania recognizes the importance of Trust Fund in promoting inclusive development and enhancing the capacity of the Least Developed Countries and Small Island Developing States (LDCs/SIDS) to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
We commend the efforts of all stakeholders involved in the administration and implementation of the Trust Fund, and we call for continued and increased support from the international community.
As a committed member of the HRC, Albania is dedicated to support the Trust Fund’s mission and to ensure that all voices are heard in global human rights discussions.
Albania strongly supports the technical cooperation as a critical component of the OHCHR’s mandate, and we commend the Office’s unwavering commitment to assist States in their efforts to respect, protect and fulfil human rights for all.
Despite a small country, Albania will continue to contribute to the Human Rights Council for promoting policies that support a greater visibility of the Trust Fund and for a greater engagement and participation of LDCs and SIDS not only in HRC but in the whole UN System.
I thank you.
