A day marked by a series of productive meetings, starting with Mr. Thomas Pitulis, the Deputy Governor of the Regional Unit of Thesprotia. Our discussions highlighted the strengthening ties between our two countries, particularly in tourism, trade, arts, and culture.
The day continued at the Mavromati border point, where we engaged with Mr. Kostandinos Pappas, the Director of Greek Customs, and Ioannis Pappas, the commander of the border point. We addressed the effective management of the increasing number of crossings at this location. Notably, statistics reveal a remarkable rise in traveler movements, from 5,600 in August 2023 to 7,200 in the same month this year.
Furthermore, the positive collaboration between Greek and Albanian authorities was reaffirmed at the Qafë Bota border point by both police and customs officials. We also ensured that the General Consulate of the Republic of Albania in Ioannina is fully engaged to support these efforts in cooperation with all relevant authorities.
