During his official visit to Japan, the Prime Minister of Albania, Mr. Edi Rama, addressed the attendees at the public lecture entitled “Albania’s Path to European Union Membership: The Role of Japan”, organized by the United Nations University in cooperation with the Embassy of Albania in Tokyo.
The Prime Minister discussed with Rector Marwala and the EU Ambassador to Japan, Jean Eric Paquet, the current stage of Albania’s journey towards full membership in the European Union, and responded to the attendees’ interest in this regard.
Prime Minister Rama held meetings with the leadership of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), the Japan Business Federation (KEIDANREN), as well as representatives of several companies and the business world in Japan.
The focus of the discussions will be on the untapped opportunities for further strengthening Albania-Japan economic cooperation, the opportunities and potentials that our country offers for investments, as well as the growing interest among business representatives and Japanese companies in expanding contacts and activity in priority sectors of our economy, reflected in the development of business forums in Tirana in November 2025 and Tokyo in February 2026, followed by similar initiatives during the following year.
