On November 28, the Embassy of Albania in Podgorica organized the reception on the occasion of the National and Flag Day. Present at this event were the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dritan Abazovic, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Miodrag Lekic, government ministers, members of the Assembly of Montenegro, mayors, ambassadors and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Podgorica, representatives of the media, NGOs and representatives of the Albanian political factor in Montenegro.
In his welcoming speech, the Ambassador noted that November 28, 1912 is the most important date in the history of Albania, the day when all Albanians proudly celebrate the declaration of independence, which did not come as a gift, but only through wars, struggles and sacrifices. As a historical fact, he has evidenced that November is the month that connects another important event for Albanians – the celebration of liberation from Nazi-fascism, proudly aligning the country side by side with the winners of the Second World War.
In his speech, the Ambassador pointed out that the relations between Albania and Montenegro are very good neighboring relations, which are a good example of good neighboring relations in the region. This positive trend is the result of a mutual political will, which sees the neighbor as a partner, a contributor to the achievement of the common goal of stability and progress, development and well-being. He further emphasized that the next year will be important in our bilateral relations as the next meeting of the two Governments is planned and as the implementation of the Buna Bridge Project will begin, which will bring Shkodra and Ulcinj closer together and Buna river navigable.
The ambassador emphasized that a very important element and an added value in the progress of bilateral relations are our Albanian compatriots in Montenegro, who have continuously been a bridge of friendship between the two countries. He expressed his pride that Albanians have contributed to the future and development of Montenegro, to the independence, consolidation, prosperity and integration processes in NATO and the EU and that they continue to contribute to the governance of the country, showing responsibility and political constructiveness.
At the end of his speech, the Ambassador highlighted another element that lies in the common interests of our two countries, that of EU integration, stressing that the Western Balkans should be part of the European family and integration should be fast, complete and and for the whole region.
