Tirana, 20 November 2024 – Albania completes the one-year presidency of the Central European Initiative (CEI).
At the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CEI member countries, held in Tirana, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, noted that Albania during the 2024 presidencies: CEI Initiative, BSEC or SEECP has made the best efforts to advance regional cooperation, economic growth, parliamentary dialogue and facilitation of the EU integration process.
“Such presidencies reflect not only Albania’s leadership, but also our unwavering belief in the power of cooperation, to address common challenges and new opportunities. We will continue to support Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and its European aspirations”, underlined Minister Hasani.
The CEI Secretary General, Roberto Antonione, praised the Albanian presidency in these challenging times for the organization.
The Chairman of the PARLIAMENTARY DIMENSION of CEI, Etjen Xhafaj said that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Central European Initiative has shown through the approved documents that the common goals in advancing cooperation in function of the EU accession process are the main basis in many levels and sectors, to bring more security, development and welfare to all member states.
At the CEI Ministerial in Tirana, the member states adopted the joint declaration.
From Albania, the CEI Presidency for 2025 was transfered to Serbia.
