During his visit to New York, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, held a meeting with the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres.
The focus of the meeting was on the work during the two-year term in the Security Council of Albania and the revitalization of the multilateral meetings.
Ministry Hasani assured Secretary Guterres of Albania’s steadfast commitment to the protection of human rights, the preservation of international law, the UN Charter and the guarantee of accountability.
The end of 2023 also marks the end of Albania’s two-year mandate in the United Nations Security Council.
During this two-year period, our country, with its dedication and active participation in the work of the Council, has clearly proven that it belongs to an alliance of political-strategic values consolidated for years, as a country that has made and continues to make an inherent contribution to peace and global stability, having as priority the region, the European continent and beyond.
