The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, led the Security Council meeting, emphasizing the importance of empowering young people in political and broader life. Minister Hasani stated that the youth are the first to be affected by conflicts, highlighting that empowering them is essential for reconciliation and building peace in the region.
“The only way forward is to provide young people with a space for joint action. No one is more interested in shaping the future than the youth. Albanian youth represents 30% of the population but 100% of the future. Empowering youth is the best investment for a brighter tomorrow,” he said.
The jointly organized meeting with Germany and France within the UN framework on “Empowering youth to address reconciliation, peace, and stability: shaping a brighter future” was a good opportunity for attendees to discuss the forms and methods of empowering young people.
Albania concludes its two-year term as a non-permanent member of the Security Council on December 31, and today’s meeting took place in the context of December, the month of youth.
During this two-year period, our country, with commitment and active participation in the Council’s work, has clearly demonstrated its belonging to a consolidated political-strategic alliance for years. It is a country that has made and continues to make a significant contribution to global peace and stability, prioritizing the region, the European continent, and beyond.
This Council mandate provided an opportunity to strengthen our relationships with strategic partners and allies and, at the same time, to develop positions on issues and situations worldwide.
