Minister Hoxha held a meeting with NATO Deputy Secretary General, Radmila Shekerinska, where the ongoing coordination for holding the NATO Summit in Tirana was discussed.

Today, I held a productive meeting with Radmila Shekerinska, Deputy Secretary General of NATO.
We discussed Albania’s strong commitment to the Alliance, continued support for Ukraine, the security situation in the Western Balkans, and Albania’s preparations to host the next NATO Summit in Tirana.
I reaffirmed Albania’s full alignment with NATO’s priorities ahead of the Ankara Summit. Albania remains a committed Ally, continuing the modernization of its Armed Forces, increasing defence spending in 2026, and advancing a domestic defence industry through strategic investments and partnerships.
I briefed on Albania’s preparations to host the next NATO Summit in Tirana, the first ever in our region, highlighting ongoing coordination with NATO Headquarters and our commitment to delivering a successful and impactful Summit.
On the Western Balkans, we underlined the importance of sustained NATO engagement to preserve regional stability and address emerging security challenges. I also reaffirmed Albania’s strong support for KFOR, emphasizing its key role in ensuring security in Kosovo and the region, and the importance of maintaining a robust, conditions-based NATO presence.
