On November 27 and 28, 2024, the Albanian Embassy in Serbia, in cooperation with the Municipality of Preševo ​​and the Albanian National Council in Serbia, organized several festive activities in the Preševo ​​Valley. The activities were held on the occasion of the 112th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the 80th Anniversary of the Liberation of Albania.

On November 27, the Albanian movie “Concert in 1936” was screened, and was accompanied by a concert by the Preševo ​​artistic and cultural group.

On November 28, the celebrations were finalized with the traditional official reception and an exhibition of historical photos from Albania.

During his speech, Ambassador Bardhyl Canaj emphasized Albania’s attention and care for the Albanian community in Serbia and elsewhere. He praised the efforts and work of this community in preserving the Albanian language, traditions and culture. On this occasion, he expressed his gratitude to the Mayor of Preševo, Mrs. Ardita Sinani, and the Chairman of the Albanian National Council, Mr. Nevzad Lutfiu, for their commitment and unstinting assistance in the successful organization of these extremely important activities.

The celebration was honored by the participations of the Albanian Deputy in the Parliament of Serbia, Mr. Shaip Kamberi, the Chairman of the Kosovo Liaison Office in Serbia, Mr. Jetish Jashari, the OSCE Representative, Mr. Antonios Balaskas, the Representative of the UNHCR Office, Mrs. Lirije Selmani Mesini, all the heads of Albanian political entities of the Preševo ​​Valley, representatives of the business community, the Veterans Association, religious communities and civil society, as well as many others. The representative of the Serbian government was the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Nikola Stojanović.
