The distinguished Albanian film director Dhimitër Anagnosti passed away yesterday. He was a towering figure of Albanian culture, a master of cinema and the stage, who leaves behind a priceless cultural legacy for future generations.

Today, 2 September 2025, the Council of Ministers has declared a national day of mourning in his honor.

As a mark of respect, flags across Albania will be flown at half-mast, while state institutions will hold homage ceremonies to pay tribute to his memory.

A book of condolences will be opened for signature at the Embassy of Albania in Bern, on 3 September 2025, from 10:00 – 12:00 and 14:00 – 16:00.
