A group of Albanian intellectuals, such as: Adem Kicaj, Dashnim Hebibi, Rafet Ademi, Perparim Sabriu, with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Albania and other activists in Switzerland, have undertaken an important initiative to name a square in the city of Lugano after of the great Albanian actor Aleksandër Moisiu (Moissi). In order to receive the necessary support for this project, they were received yesterday by the Ambassador of RSH in Bern, Mr. Mustafa Nano and First Secretary Valon Gashi.
The meeting took place in a friendly and constructive atmosphere, where intellectuals presented the historical and cultural importance of this project for Aleksandër Moisiu, one of the most prominent figures of Albanian theater and cinema, who has left an indelible mark on world art.
The intellectuals emphasized that naming a square after Moses in the Italian-speaking part, where he lived and has his house, would be a well-deserved recognition for his extraordinary contribution and a symbol of the cultural ties between Albania and Switzerland. They expressed their belief that this act will further promote Albanian culture and strengthen the friendship between the two countries.
Ambassador Nano expressed the RSH Embassy’s full support for this initiative and pledged to help at every step of the process to ensure that this idea becomes a reality. He praised the work and dedication of intellectuals to promote Albanian culture and history abroad.
This meeting marks an important step towards the realization of this ambitious project, which is expected to have a positive impact on the promotion of Albanian cultural heritage in the international arena.
