On April 14, 2025, the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania in Kiev, Mr. Ernal Filo, held a meeting with the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, Mr. Matviy Bidny.

During the meeting, cooperation between the two countries in the field of sports and youth policies was discussed.

The Minister, Mr. Matviy Bidny, expressed gratitude to the Republic of Albania and its people for their support for Ukraine during the large-scale Russian occupation, as well as for their firm stance in condemning the actions of Russia and Belarus from the first days of armed aggression. He expressed gratitude for the assistance provided to Ukrainian citizens, including athletes who were forced to leave the country.

Ambassador Filo informed Minister Bidny about the support that the Albanian government has provided to Ukraine not only on a bilateral level, but also in international organizations, condemning from the very beginning the unprecedented Russian aggression against Ukraine. Albania attaches great importance to very good relations with Ukraine, which is also evidenced by the opening of the Embassy in Kiev for the first time. He further confirmed the readiness of the Republic of Albania to continue supporting Ukraine, especially in matters of youth policies, sports initiatives, exchange of experience between specialists, as well as in the adaptation of Ukrainian youth temporarily residing in Albania to public life.

To deepen cooperation, the interlocutors agreed to work on a draft Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of Sports and Youth, which will contribute to strengthening relations between our two countries for the development of an active, healthy and responsible youth for the society of the two countries.
