The Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania, Mr. Edi Rama, and the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Mr. Denys Shmyhal, held an online conversation.
They focused on the topic of cooperation in the field of defense. Prime Minister Shmyhal in particular thanked Albania for training the Ukrainian army. Ukraine looks forward to the continuation and expansion of this program in accordance with the agreement on long-term cooperation and support signed in January between the President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Albania.
Among other things, holding Russia accountable and increasing pressure through sanctions were discussed. Ukraine is coordinating its efforts with partners to combat the Russian “shadow fleet”.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Mr. Shmyhal, welcomed the opening of the Albanian embassy in Kiev. It will strengthen bilateral cooperation at all levels. The government appreciates Albania’s support for initiatives in favor of Ukraine and its future membership in the EU and NATO.
Shmyhal thanked Albania for the assistance it provided after the large-scale Russian invasion.
