The Marubi Photographic Archive, housing more than 500,000 photographic negatives, objects and documents created by pioneering photographers Pietro and Kel Marubi, has been officially inscribed on the Memory of the World International Register of UNESCO.
The inclusion recognises the archive’s outstanding documentary value, representing a unique visual record of Albanian life, culture and history over more than a century.
This inscription not only marks a milestone for Albania’s documentary heritage, but also enhances international cooperation in conservation, digitisation and cultural exchange related to photographic archives.
