Mr. Chair, distinguished colleagues,
Albania fully aligns with the statement of the European Union, but I would like to add our voice in a national capacity.
Within 24 hours from addressing Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, we are compelled to return to this hall to voice again our strongest condemnation and shock at the latest wave of Russia’s barbaric assault on its peaceful neighbour.
Russia’s devastating attack yesterday on the village of Hroza, in Kharkiv region, killed over 50 civilians and hurt many others. Every family in the village was affected. Now they face unspeakable heartbreak and tragedy. As if this wasn’t enough, early this morning Russia launched missile strikes on a residential area in the city of Kharkiv itself, where a young boy was killed and many others were injured. Albania stands with the people and Ukraine at this difficult hour and we express our deepest condolences for those who perished.
The madness of this Russia`s war has gone too far. Russia must immediately cease its acts of war and immediately and unconditionally withdraw all of its forces from all territories of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.
There will be no impunity for Russia’s crimes in Ukraine! We shall spare no effort – here in the OSCE, the United Nations and in other international mechanisms – to ensure accountability and justice, and to prevent future atrocities. We cannot, must not, and will not escape this international responsibility.
Nations will remember, for generations to come, where each one of us stood at this defining crossroads of history. Ukraine’s heroic fight is also ours. Albania and the Albanian people will continue to stand with Ukraine in its righteous cause!
This is an illegal, wrong and senseless wars. Ukraine must and will prevail! Thank you!
