on the Violation of Romania’s National Airspace on the Night of 28-29 May 2026 in the Context of the Russian Federation’s Ongoing Aggression against Ukraine

Thank you, Chairs,

Albania condemns the Russian drone strike in Galați, Romania, which hit a residential building and injured civilians, including a minor.

We express our full solidarity with the people and authorities of Romania and wish a swift and full recovery to those injured.

This incident represents a serious and irresponsible escalation on the part of the Russian Federation and further underscores the absurdity and human cost of Russia’s war against Ukraine, whose consequences continue to threaten the security and safety of civilians within as well as beyond Ukraine’s borders.

Albania will continue to stand in full solidarity with our allies and partners, in supporting coordinated efforts to put an end to this war in defence of peace, security and the fundamental principles of international law.
