On February 27, 2023, the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to the Council of Europe, Mr. Dastid Koreshi, signed in the presence of the deputy. General Secretary of KiE, Mr. Bjørn Berge, Second Additional Protocol to the Convention on Cybercrime (CETS224).
Cybercrime is a growing and extremely complex current challenge, which dictates the need to undertake new adequate measures to respond to this global phenomenon. This fact has been highlighted by the difficulties of dealing with this phenomenon by the competent judicial authorities.
The Second Additional Protocol to the Convention on Cybercrime (CETS224) responds to this challenge and provides tools for enhanced cooperation and discovery of electronic evidence – such as direct cooperation with electronic service providers and registrars, effective means of obtaining subscriber information and data exchange traffic, immediate cooperation in emergency cases or joint investigations – that are subject to a system of human rights and the rule of law, including setting parameters for data protection.
