At the invitation of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Croatia, Ivan Anusic, on January 25, 2024, the Minister of Defense, Niko Pelesi, paid an official visit to Croatia.
During this visit, Mr. Pelesi was accompanied by Ambassador Poda, as well as by Ministry officials
of Defense.
During this visit, the two counterparts discussed the continuation and deepening of bilateral cooperation,
with special emphasis on the field of security and defense and the possibilities of strengthening
military-technical cooperation. The security situation in Southeast Europe, cooperation in
within NATO and other regional and international initiatives were the subject of talks
bilateral.
The ministers stated that Albania and Croatia are fellow travelers in one of the most important journeys, membership in NATO, remembering that this year, the two countries mark the 15th anniversary of membership in the Alliance. The ministers emphasized that this anniversary makes us feel proud of our position in fulfilling the obligations for our common peace and security, as two countries that share the same vision and the same values.
During this visit, the two Ministers of Defense signed a new Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of Security and Defense, which will give a new impetus to the relations between the two countries in facing the current security challenges. The memorandum also identifies and includes new areas of cooperation related to innovation and cybernetics, the defense industry, training and education, as well as many other areas of common interest.
