19 March 2025, London – The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Igli Hasani, met in London with the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom, David Lammy, and the Minister of State for Europe, North America and the Overseas Territories, Stephen Doughty.
The focus of the meeting was on the further strengthening of bilateral relations, parliamentary exchanges, the continued support of the United Kingdom for Albania’s European integration, the upcoming Summit of the European Political Community to be held in Tirana on 16 May 2025, as well as the deepening of cooperation in strategic areas such as energy, infrastructure, tourism and agriculture.
“We also discussed increasing cooperation in the function of regional security, reaffirmed the joint commitment to expand multilateral cooperation in international organizations, and encouraged the increase of British investments in Albania in key sectors of mutual interest,” said Minister Hasani.
Hasani also had a fruitful meeting today with the UK Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Karen Pierce. The meeting focused on strengthening the joint commitment to the stability and development of the Western Balkans.
Minister Hasani underlined: “The meeting was a good opportunity to emphasize the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the function of stability in the region and supporting the ongoing processes of integration into the EU. These efforts are essential not only to ensure prosperity and sustainable development in the Balkans, but also contribute to broader stability throughout Europe.”
During his stay in London, Minister Hasani also met with Martin Vickers, member of the United Kingdom parliament, senior representative of the Royal College of Defence Studies, and participated in an activity organized by the Albanian Embassy in Great Britain with the “Butrinti” Foundation, where success stories were shared throughout the 30 years of this foundation’s work in protecting cultural heritage.
