Minister Hasani: “Albania was praised for its progress towards the EU and contribution to regional stability”
Paris, France, 18.03.2025 – Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania, Mr. Igli Hasani, held a meeting today with the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, Mr. Jean-Noël Barrot.
The focus of the meeting was a series of important topics related to the bilateral relations between our two countries, the advancement of important projects in various sectors, regional developments, cooperation in international organizations, the European integration process of Albania and the European Political Community.
Both sides appreciated the strong political dialogue that currently exists with Albania and France, also reflected through recent high-level visits.
The meeting was also an excellent opportunity to discuss Albania’s European journey, where Minister Hasani took the opportunity to express his deepest gratitude for the unstinting French support during this journey. The progress made so far by Albania in implementing reforms and fulfilling EU conditions was appreciated, while Mr. Hasani underlined that our country remains committed to achieving the objective of EU membership by 2030.
The meeting also focused on several strategic issues, including the European Political Community (EPC) Summit, which will take place on 16 May 2025 in Tirana, as well as the security situation in Europe. Both ministers stressed the importance of this Summit as an opportunity to strengthen regional cooperation and promote joint commitment to stability and peace.
Regarding this summit, Minister Igli Hasani stated that:
“The fact that it is taking place in our country is clear evidence of Albania’s commitment to regional stability and our unstoppable ambition to deepen integration with the EU. For Albania, this summit means a lot. It means deepening cooperation on geopolitical challenges, as well as increasing focus on addressing topics such as energy security, migration management, climate action, and economic development.”
Finally, Minister Hasani emphasized that Albania will continue to be a reliable partner for France and the European Union, contributing to efforts for peace, stability, and development in the region and beyond.
