The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, hosted the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Hakan Fidan, in a meeting.
Minister Hasani praised the advancement of Turkey-Albania relations, as he emphasized that there is potential between the two countries for a further intensification of economic relations and not only that.
“I want to especially appreciate Turkey for its support in the recognition of Kosovo in the international arena. We established the need to increase and strengthen our bilateral cooperation and coordination, in order to successfully face security challenges of all dimensions. After the successful completion of the mandate as a non-permanent member of the UNSC, Albania will continue the engagement of many parties in several UN mechanisms and in 4 regional initiatives. The successful fulfillment of the commitments made will certainly require cooperation with Turkey,” said the Albanian chief diplomat.
The Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, said that the relations between the two countries in every field, both for political dialogue and exchange in the fields of economy, culture and education, are quite good.
“Our goal is to develop the first Strategic Partnership Council within 2024. This will be an important platform for us. We hope that trade between us will also grow significantly. We will do our best for this,” he said.
This is the first official visit of the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hakan Fidan, to Tirana.
