Tirana, August 29, 2024 – The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, during the conversation with journalists, at the end of the Conference of Ambassadors, emphasized that the Albanian government is ready for the second intergovernmental conference with the European Union.
“We are ready and have been ready for a year. The first set of chapters is complete. We are ready for the other two groups of chapters. The negotiating team is working so that political obstacles do not interfere with the technical agenda. I am optimistic that this autumn many mechanisms will be developed and we will be ready to move very quickly towards the EU”, he said.
Minister Hasani reiterated the MEPJ’s increased attention to Albanians in the region, through the establishment of a new directorate, which will deal exclusively with all Albanians in the region and with the mapping and composition of diplomatic missions around the world.
He also announced the opening of new embassies in India, Indonesia and Kenya to strengthen Albania’s diplomatic representation.
While giving details about the future summits expected to be held in Tirana, Minister Hasani said that Albania is in a momentum, which should be used to the maximum.
“We are in the stage of internal preparations. We have started identifying the facilities, funds and people who make it possible.This shows that Albania is an important partner and necessary ally in the entire effort of the North Atlantic organization for what is happening today”.
Albania’s membership in the EU and the 2030 agenda, as well as the country’s good moment in tourism and economy, according to Minister Hasani, require the commitment of our representatives around the world to be maximum. Presenting to journalists the new law on foreign service, the Minister said that this law will energize diplomacy.
“We have to use the best of the people we have at our disposal, the best of Albanians and Albanians wherever they are, and that’s why this is the function of this law, and I really hope that we give a golden opportunity to a a good, young generation of diplomats who will push our country forward, with or without us who are here at the table in the tasks we are currently”, emphasized Minister Hasani.
