Luxembourg, June 24, 2024 – At the invitation of the High Representative/Deputy The President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, participated in the informal meeting between the Foreign Ministers of the EU and the Foreign Ministers of the Western Balkans.
Minister Hasani reconfirmed the complete alignment of Albania with the foreign and security policies of the European Union and underlined the gradual integration as one of the appropriate mechanisms for EU expansion.
“As we prepare for the second Intergovernmental Conference, it is important to recognize that the multiple challenges underline the need for a united front. We must cooperate more closely and strengthen coordination. This is how we can, through our democracies and the rule of law, protect the security and well-being of our people, the people of the Western Balkans”, emphasized Minister Hasani.
He was received at the meeting by Commissioner Varhelyi, as well as met with the Hungarian and Latvian counterparts.
