Tirana, 20 May 2025 – The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Igli Hasani, today hosted the Minister for European Affairs of Denmark, Ms. Marie Bjerre, with whom he discussed new geopolitical contexts, security challenges and the European Union enlargement process.
Minister Bjerre’s visit, according to Minister Hasani, coincides two days before the Fifth Intergovernmental Conference in Brussels between the European Union and Albania, where it is expected to officially open Group-Chapter 3, which is related to “Competitiveness and Inclusive Growth” and includes 8 other chapters that are being opened.
“This step constitutes another important phase in our EU accession negotiations process – a process in which Albania is not only moving on the right track, but is also accelerating steadily, while also adhering to the major objective: that within this year we open the remaining group chapters, while within 2027 we complete the negotiations, having 2030 as the latest point when Albania sits as an equal among equals at the table of European Union values”, said Mr. Hasani.
During the conversation, Minister Hasani also expressed his gratitude to the Danish support for Albania’s European integration, while underlining the readiness to further strengthen cooperation after Denmark takes over the EU presidency on July 1.
“We are confident that under the leadership of Denmark, the enlargement process will continue to remain high on the EU agenda.” – said Minister Hasani.
