
H. E. Ambassador Ferit Hoxha

Biography
Mr. Ferit Hoxha joined the Albanian Foreign Service in 1991 and has been active in the field of foreign relations since then. From 1991 to 1995 he covered Albania’s relations with the European Union, at the Albanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1995, he served as Counsellor at the Albanian Mission to the United Nations, New York. From 1996 to 1998, he held the position of Director for Multilateral Relations at the Albanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1998 and 2001, he served as Ambassador to the European Union, Ambassador to Belgium, and non-resident in Luxembourg. From 2001 to 2006, he was Ambassador to France, including non-resident in Portugal, Algeria and Monaco. Between 2006 and 2009, he held the position of Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the highest civil service position. During this time, he also served as National Coordinator for the Alliance of Civilizations and was the Governor of Albania on the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) (2007 – 2008).
From 2009 to 2015, he was the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Albania to the United Nations in New York and the Non-Resident Ambassador of Albania to Cuba. From November 2015 to March 2018, he was the Director General for Political and Strategic Affairs at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania. From March 2018 to October 2021, he served as the Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of Albania to UNESCO, in Paris. On September 30, 2021, he was appointed Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Albania to the United Nations in New York, as well as Non-Resident Ambassador of Albania to Cuba.
Education
Mr. Hoxha graduated from the University of Tirana, (Albania) in French language and civilization. He attended the Netherlands Institute of International Relations in The Hague; the Center for International and Security Studies in Maryland (USA), studied high-level management with Georgetown University and the Art of Negotiation with the University of California. In 2017, he participated in the 11th Session of Mediterranean Studies of IHEDN, Paris, France.
Titles
Mr. Hoxha has been honored with the title “Dignité de Grand Officer” of the French National Order of Merit; the title “Ufficiale del Ordine della Stella i Repubblica Italiane” and the title “Personnalité francophone de l’Albanie pour l’année 2007” by the Albanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Languages
In addition to his native language, Mr. Hoxha speaks fluent English, French and Italian and has a good command of Spanish.
