HRC: 60 Item 3: Biennial panel discussion on youth and human rights
Geneva, 16 September 2025
Statement delivered by Ambassador Vasilika Hysi, Permament Representative
Mr. Vice President,
Today’s discussion, amplified by the powerful interventions of youth representatives, underscores the urgency of empowering young people and ensuring that human rights are universally upheld.
When youth are included as equal partners, societies benefit from their innovation, energy, and vision for a more just and sustainable future.
Guaranteeing the full enjoyment of human rights for all is not only a moral imperative, but also a foundation for peace, stability, and development.
Yet too often, youth face barriers to participation, education, and employment, limiting their ability to contribute meaningfully into societies.
It is our responsibility to create enabling environments, where young people can engage fully in civic life, champion tolerance, and prevent violence.
Through its National Youth Strategy, Albania has empowered young people to participate in decision-making, intercultural dialogue, and community initiatives.
The establishment of Youth Centers and Local Youth Action Plans provides safe spaces for engagement.
Mr. Vice President,
It is equally important to deepen our collective understanding and strengthen international cooperation and assistance to ensure the active, meaningful, safe, and inclusive participation of young people.
By working together across borders, sharing good practices, and providing resources and protection, we create an enabling environment where young people can contribute fully and without fear.
Such cooperation is essential not only to promote the enjoyment of human rights by all, but also to build societies based on trust, justice, and lasting peace.
Thank you.
