Statement on the UPR of Croatia

Statement delivered by Ambassador Vasilika Hysi, Permanent Representative
Mr. President,
Albania welcomes the Croatian delegation, thanks it for presenting its fourth national report, and commends the inclusive consultative process conducted at the national level on the preparation of the report.
Albania commends Croatia for its continued commitment to the promotion and protection of human rights, including through the adoption of the National Plan for the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights 2023–2027 and the National Plan to Combat Human Trafficking 2024–2030.
We welcome the initiatives aimed at improving the protection of journalists and media freedom.
We commend the progress made in the area of gender equality and the promotion of women’s representation in public and political life, as well as the efforts made to strengthen cooperation with civil society.
While wishing Croatia a successful review, Albania recommends:
1. Continue the effective implementation of the National Plan for the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights 2023–2027.
2. 2. Strengthen policies for the social and economic inclusion of youth, women, and people from vulnerable communities.
3. 3. Continue and strengthen collaboration with civil society in following up on UPR recommendations.
