Thank you, Mr. President,
Albania expresses its sincere appreciation for the constructive leadership and dedicated efforts undertaken by Canada to facilitate consensus on the draft resolution addressing violence against women and girls.
We remain deeply concerned that violence against women and girls continues to be one of the most prevalent, devastating human rights violations globally. It profoundly affects individuals, communities, and societies, hindering sustainable development and peace.
We underscore that prevention must be central to our collective efforts to address violence. The full realization of economic, social, and cultural rights is essential in addressing the root causes of violence against women and girls.
When women and girls have unimpeded access to quality education, universal and comprehensive health coverage, secure and adequate housing, decent employment opportunities, and equal participation in cultural and social life, their vulnerability to violence and discrimination significantly diminishes.
This resolution embodies a critical, holistic, and rights-based approach, promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls in all aspects of life.
Albania strongly urges all members of this Council to unite in support and adopt this resolution by consensus, and to vote against all amendments, demonstrating our shared commitment to eliminating violence against women and girls.
1 thank you.
