HRC58 – Annual High Level Panel Discussion on Human Rights Mainstreaming
Thank you, Mr. President,
We welcome the focus of this Panel Discussion on Beijing + 30.
Albania has made significant efforts to advance policies and measures in all areas of the Beijing Declaration and its Platform for Action, including on gender equality and women’s empowerment, by increasing women’s participation in decision-making and politics, adopting gender-responsive budgeting, and the protection against gender-based violence.
Albania has undertaken several measures for digitalization of public services and to ensure progress towards inclusive development and decent work.
The Youth Guarantee Program aiming at the inclusion of young people in the labour market, the reduction of the gender wage gap, engagement in the Global Accelerator for Decent Work and Social Protection for Just Transitions, job creation and skills development are some of these measures.
Alongside the positive developments, challenges remain. Albania is working to increase employment, support start-ups and women-led businesses, improve healthcare, and reduce gender gaps in the digital sphere.
Digital violence, harassment and sexual violence remain a challenge. In this regard, we are strengthening our efforts to find appropriate ways to ensure the necessary and adequate protection.
Mr. President.
In these turbulent times, Albania is working closely with partners, civil society and international organizations to ensure the promotion and protection of women rights, gender equality, women empowerment in Albania and worldwide.
Thank you
