UPR of Kazakhstan

Mr. President,

Albania welcomes the delegation of Kazakhstan and thanks them for presenting their fourth national report.

 

We welcome the amendment of the Constitution to prohibit the death penalty. The ratifications of the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Rights of the Child.

 

We note with satisfaction Kazakhstan’s efforts to improve and protect human rights, even though the country continues to face significant challenges, including those related to combating violence against women and girls, freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.

 

Albania makes the following recommendations:

1. Continue its efforts to eliminate discrimination against women and increase the women participation in decision-making processes;
2. Take adequate measures to fully ensure freedom of association and assembly;
3. Prohibit child marriages.
