Statement delivered during the Interactive Dialogue withthe Working Group on discrimination against women and girls

Thank you, Mr. President,
 
I would like to thank the Working Group for their work and efforts to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women and girls around the world. Albania appreciates their advice on how to make further progress towards achieving gender equality.
 
Enhancing gender equality, empowerment of women and girls and ensuring decent work for all are one of the main objectives of Albania.
 
Albania has undertaken important reforms to establish a solid legal and institutional framework for achieving women empowerment and gender equality.
 
Albania has developed a National Strategy for Gender Equality to further advance gender equality and women's empowerment in a systematic and sustainable manner, through mainstreaming gender into policies, laws and programs.
 
Albania pays special attention to achieve gender equality, as well as ending gender-based violence and domestic violence, by considering women and girls’ adequate treatment as prerequisites to sustainable development.
 
Albania will continue to advocate and support all efforts regarding the promotion of women’s rights and gender equality, and we stand ready to cooperate with the Working Group to promote gender equality and combat discrimination.
