The Albanian Gastronomy Festival was successfully held at New York College in Athens, an annual tradition organized by the Albanian Women’s Association in Greece – Σύνδεσμος Αλβανίδων Γυναικών στην Ελλάδα. This festival turned the day into an extraordinary celebration of our rich culture and heritage.
In a festive and welcoming atmosphere, attendees enjoyed a wide array of traditional dishes, showcasing authentic flavors and the stories they carry. The event featured exhibitions of handcrafted artworks by Albanian artists, along with presentations of traditional costumes, dances, and Albanian music.
In her speech, Ambassador Luela Hajdaraga commended the organizers for their contributions to the event’s success and emphasized the significance of preserving cultural heritage through gastronomy. She highlighted its role in strengthening ties between Albanian communities and international counterparts, noting that the Embassy supports initiatives that promote Albanian traditions and culture in the diaspora, positioning Albania as a tourist destination rich in unique culinary experiences.
Also present at the event were Mr. Thanasis Himonas, Vice Mayor of Athens for Immigrant Social Integration; Ms. Rovena Xhori, Chairwoman of the Albanian Community in Greece; esteemed Albanian poet and author, Ms. Rita Petro, Director of the “Albas” Publishing House; and Ms. Adla Sasati, Director of the Greek Forum of Immigrants.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all members of our community for their dedication to promoting Albanian culture and traditions in Greece.
Together, we will continue to support the preservation and dissemination of our cultural heritage!
