The Embassy of Albania in Athens organized the cultural and historical event “Gjirokastra,” part of the “My Albania” project. This event brought together Gjirokastra citizens residing in Greece and friends of Albanian culture.
Among the distinguished guests were Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro, Head of the Kosovo Interests Office in Athens Fitim Gllareva, Mayor of Gjirokastër Flamur Golemi, Mayor of Përmet Alma Hoxha, diplomats from the Embassy, and notable personalities such as journalist Engjëll Serjani, actor Nikolla Llambro, academic and writer Iliaz Bobaj, and researcher and writer Spiro Xhavara.
In her speech, Ambassador Hajdaraga emphasized the Embassy’s commitment to preserving the cultural identity and traditions of Albanians in the diaspora, highlighting that Gjirokastra, with its rich history and culture, serves as a vibrant bridge between our past and future.
Mayor Golemi expressed profound gratitude to Ambassador Hajdaraga for her invaluable support in promoting and preserving the culture and traditions of Gjirokastra in Greece.
The event concluded with a captivating performance by Landi Cenko and the Gjirokastran iso-polyphony group, who delivered the authentic sounds of traditional Albanian music. Attendees also enjoyed traditional products and dishes offered by the Municipality of Gjirokastër, meticulously prepared by the Gjirokastran community in Greece.
